Child Care Resources

"Scientifically-based research has provided both parents and educators with a new understanding of children's rapid brain development from the beginning.

Researchers have proven that children who experience just one year in a high-quality learning environment experience significant, positive developmental gains compared to children who may not have the advantage of quality care. Michigan remains on the forefront of using the research to support the implementation of high quality early care and educational programs for very young children. Research is also telling us that program quality plays a significant role in outcomes for children."

Child Care Expulsion Prevention (CCEP) Initiative

In Michigan, 61% of children under the age of six require child care. Many families of infants, toddlers and young children are struggling due to behavioral challenges that may put their child care at risk.

Child Care Expulsion Prevention (CCEP) is funded through the Michigan Department of Human Services and administered by the Michigan Department of Community Health. CCEP aims to reduce expulsions, improve the quality of child care, and increase the number of parents and providers who successfully nurture the social-emotional development of infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
